Flexible Mobile Screens
Flexible mobile screens are the new holy grail of all the major mobile manufacturers around the world. With Samsung and Huawei unveiling their devices at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona the race has begun, Xiaomi has also unveiled its own model on Weibo. The pioneer in this technology was a small Chinese company called Royole. Although the durability of the screens is a question mark with some screens facing an issue of a crease mark after constant use, the technology is promising and will improve over time with millions of dollars being invested in research.
Mobile wallets
With the advent of technologies such as blockchain and NFC, your physical wallet will become obsolete just tap your mobile once on the NFC payment device and the payment would be done authenticated securely through blockchain technology which will be by far the safest method to complete payments.
5G
5G will be 100-250 times faster than 4G, with speeds touching up to 20 GB per second over wireless apart from this the amount of delay between sending and receiving information will be 1 millisecond which is currently 100 milliseconds in 4G. This will open a Pandora's box for technologies like self- driving cars these cars will be able to connect with traffic signals, other cars and road sensors in real time which is currently not possible in 4G.5G will enable expert surgeons to do surgery via robots on a patient who is thousands of miles apart. Augmented reality is another technology which will benefit immensely through 5G imagine playing pub-G with a VR headset while you are commuting to work.
M2M
M2M means a technology in which machines communicate with each other without human assistance. The technology is still in the nascent stage currently but is improving with improved connectivity speeds. The applications of this technology are endless one of them being security in which different types of intruder alarms are seamlessly connected with each other via wireless network providing for a more secure system as opposed to a wired one. M2M communication can prove helpful in agriculture by monitoring the livestock, automated irrigation systems, and warehouse. Artificial intelligence is going to be a big trend in mobile technology. Some are already available like AI in your camera, few mobiles have this option where whenever you are clicking a picture the AI installed in the mobile selects the best picture settings according to the environment in which the picture is being taken. AI in Siri, Google, and other voice assistants is constantly improving with speech recognition getting more and more accurate , Google has gone a step further by integrating support for translating into 27 languages in its new interpreter mode , you can now speak with someone else who doesn’t speak your language via google’s interpreter mode AI.
Mobile technology is changing at breakneck speed with 1.56 billion smartphones being sold each year and the value of these smartphones being 522 billion U.S. dollars expect more and more money flowing into research and development of new mobile technologies.
